Submission from NCS-CAF-Sri Lanka

Our Right, Our Life! Include us & consult us in ACTIONS!

Are persons with psychosocial disabilities truly included in society?
Do we have the choice to make our own decisions?
Is meaningful participation a reality, and are our needs reasonably accommodated?

This video submission by NCS-CAF Sri Lanka explores these critical questions. It highlights the barriers faced by persons with psychosocial disabilities and presents good practices that can be followed to ensure community inclusion.

The message is clear: there needs to be a shifting of decision-making power to the underrepresented and most affected groups by the exclusionary mental health systems and policies. Our voices must be included in planning services and interventions by civil society, service providers and policy makers because meaningful inclusion starts with consultation and collaboration across all stakeholder groups.

Hear from members of NCS-CAF Sri Lanka about how community support systems and services enable independent living in the community. Their video submissions highlight how true inclusion begins at the community level.
