Since 2018, #WhatWENeed has been a space for persons with psychosocial disabilities and our allies to challenge medical oppression on our movement, call for abolition of coercion and institutionalization, and advance our rights, choices, dignity and freedom.
In 2026, as we mark eight years of collective resistance and solidarity through the campaign and 20 years of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), we continue to call for a fundamental shift in how disability, rights, and inclusion are understood and addressed.
This year’s campaign brings together our collective advocacy across key thematic areas, including:
• Deinstitutionalization
• Community Inclusion
• Access to Justice
• Intersectionality: Identities and Issues
• Economic Justice
• Climate Justice
• Digital Rights and Assistive Technology
📣 #WhatWENeed 2026: ‘Claiming our Freedom, Living Our Rights’ campaign is now open!
We invite TCI members, persons with psychosocial disabilities, allies, partners and our wider global community to contribute blogs, videos, photography, artwork, poetry, podcasts, and other creative expressions that share our demands, experiences, ideas, and visions for change.
📅 Campaign period: 12 October – 28 December 2026
