Exhibition of Installations and Photography and Public Discussion on Deinstitutionalization “Forgotten People : Those Who Have No Rights”
In observance of World Mental Health Day, the Indonesian Mental Health Association (IMHA) organized a four-day event in October 2023. The event in Jakarta showcased a Photography Exhibition and an Exhibition of Isolation Room Installation and Strait Jacket, highlighting the violations of the rights of persons with psychosocial disabilities in mental institutions.
The public discussion on deinstitutionalization “Forgotten People: Those Who Have No Rights” focused on the need for support systems to enable individuals with psychosocial disabilities to live inclusively in society.
The events emphasized on the urgency for the Indonesian government to prioritize deinstitutionalization and take strict actions against all forms of violence against people with psychosocial disabilities in these institutions as a crucial step in protecting their rights.
