Taiwan Mad Alliance
Taiwan Mad Alliance consists of four core members who are also survivors of the mental health system in Taiwan. They identify with the label ‘mad’ and named the group Taiwan Mad Alliance accordingly, in October 2019.
This is the first post from a series of posts that the Taiwan Mad Alliance has curated for the #WhatWENeed campaign.

It is not easy to be an outcast from the mainstream society, but it\’s easy to get used to the feeling of loss and despair. Let\’s try not to get too used to it. Let\’s try to express #WhatWEneed.
The hashtag #WhatWENeed was initiated by TCI Asia Pacific (Transforming Communities for Inclusion of Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities – Asia Pacific)in 2018.
Taiwan Mad Alliance joins in the hashtag event by posting weekly with #WhatWENeed tag in the following weeks till year end.
In this first post, we say:
What we need is to express, and also to listen to each other. ‘WE’ are differentiate by gender/sex, class, race, we may come from very different social world. It doesn’t mean that our experiences have no chance to resonate with each other, it is that, by seeing our differences, we can find a way to bridge, to connect, thus we can build a community by and for ourselves. This is one of the lessons we learnt from our peer support practices.
